Ahead of the October 2010 Ryder Cup, a £22m upgrade of Newport station was agreed to include two new ticket halls on either side of the railway linked by a new footbridge. The structure is clad in ethylenetetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) reflective material, giving the station a distinctive landmark building.
These pictures are from a site visit on 27 August which show the inside of the northern ticket hall under construction alongside exterior shots of the southern ticket hall and the rest of the station.
The new structure has been designed by Atkins and Grimshaw with Galliford Try the main contractor.
